09:58:35 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) test test test
09:58:49 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) who is the checker, please
10:01:38 Jerry Hi
10:03:46 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) hy to all, welcome to the chat
10:04:19 Checker It´s me watching the launch
10:05:08 RobU Hi Werner, it's late here in Sydney, will this video be available to be downloaded on the extranet
10:05:20 Jerry how much will be the bx960 s1?
10:06:47 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) yes, it will be availble on the Media Server after the launch
10:06:54 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Jerry: Prices vary by region. As a rough and non -binding list price indication for the BX960S1 we have 6.600 EUR for the baseunit incl. 2x 7520 and 8GB DDR3 Memory.
10:07:44 Jerry Thank you!
10:09:32 Joey What is th maximum amount of total memory? I think this has just been said in the video, but I didn't get it.
10:10:56 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Joey: BX960S1 has 32 DIMM slots x 16GB = 512GB
10:11:23 Joey Okay, that sounds very good. Thank you.
10:14:56 RobU Does VIOM and RCVE support the 18/8 10Gb switch?
10:16:46 Checker When are the products available?
10:17:21 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @RobU: VIOM doesn't depend on Switch but on HBA. The 10GbE Blade Mezz will be supported soon. RCVE will also support 10GbE infrastructure, but I don't have a schedule available.
10:18:00 Herman Lankreijer, Oce Printing Systems GmbH Is there a tower server planned (TX....)
10:18:01 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Checker: BX960S1 has general availability in July
10:18:08 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ checker: RX600 S5 will be orderable with May pricelist, GA planned for end of May
10:18:30 janosch.rolles When the products are available, what can you tell about delivery times, once it is ordered?
10:19:23 Wizz When using BX920 and BX960 in one chassis you have onboard 1GbE and 10GbE on the same layer. Is this ok with today's Connection Blades ?
10:19:34 Menno When will the RX600S5 to be konfigured in the SysArc? I need to make an offer?
10:19:43 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Janosch: Standard Delivery Times with general availability, usual 10 working days
10:20:23 Menno ok, but its not in the SysArc yet
10:20:41 Herman Lankreijer, Oce Printing Systems GmbH Why are only RAID 0,1,5 and 6 supported and not RAID 10 in the rack server?
10:20:53 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Herman Lankreijer: No, there are no TX Servers planned based on Nehalem-EX
10:21:08 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Wizz: Mix of different Mezzanine cards (1 and 10 GbE) using the same 10 GbE connection blade will be enabled from June, 2010
10:23:15 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Hermann: In the RX600 S5 all RAID levels will be supported by our modular RAID Controller (RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50)
10:23:27 Nikola Hi guys. Is there a DUAL connection of the blade to the backend of the chasis BX900?
10:24:41 sunny where can I find more info around the virtualization
10:24:41 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Nikola: Yes, each blade connects into 4 pairs of switches, thus there is something like a "4x redundancy"
10:25:44 Nikola Is this the case with half high blade only on full high balde servers?
10:26:04 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Menno: RX600 S5 is allready visible in the "PRIMUS" Database for SysArchitekt. With Pricelist May the RX600 S5 will be configurable in general.
10:27:19 Tom Gundtofte-Bruun Could you elaborate on the "cold stand-by" of the RX600 PSUs?
10:27:33 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @sunny: please have a look at this URL: http://ts.fujitsu.com/products/standard_servers/server_solutions/index.html
10:27:44 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Nikola: With Full Height Blades the # of switches remains the same, but the blade connectivity is times two: 4 Mezz card instead of 2
10:28:32 Nikola OK thank you.
10:28:56 Wizz When do you expect VMware vSphere certification for both systems?
10:30:10 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Wizz: It is planned aligned with GA for both systems
10:31:26 Checker Thank you, will there will be more server blades available this year?
10:32:33 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Checker: Also in July we will have general availability of the BX924S2, a high end but half height dual processor virtualisation Blade with more memory and more bandwidth compared to our current dual Blades BX920/922.
10:33:07 Nikon "high end, half hight?" :-)
10:33:27 Checker Sounds good, thanxx
10:33:43 Wizz Do the new systems support UEFI?
10:33:50 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Tom: With the cold standy feature the efiiciancy of the PSU subsystem will improved. Example: If the system is equipped with 2 PSU´s + 1 for redundancy , the redundant PSU´s will be set to "cold standby" so that the 2 PSU are working with higher load and on a better efficiency.
10:34:31 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Nikon: Half height - High end, that means PRIMERGY BX924 S2 with 18 DIMM slots!!!
10:35:26 Checker Are there any benchmarks available for the new servers?
10:35:55 Simon What about Itanium systems? I only see Xeon
10:36:07 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Wizz: Yes, RX600 S1and BX960 S1using uEFI BIOS
10:36:46 Wizz Perfect - thanks!
10:37:00 Tom Gundtofte-Bruun Is VMDQ or its successor IO included with the new systems?
10:37:14 Frits Fujitsu also announced Primequest 1800E with 8 socket 8-core. Will we (FTS) also bring that to market and if yes, what will the postioning versus RX900 be?
10:37:21 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Simon: This announcement is focused on Nehalem-EX based PRIMERGY servers. Fujitsu is also updating the PRIMEQUEST line of mission-critical high-end servers with the new Nehalem-EX processors. And we continue to sell SPARC systems for customers who require UNIX.
10:38:38 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) @checker- of course there are benchmark values available, soon to appear with the PY performance reports for the new systems. in terms of Outstanding benches, we are proud to have achieved a new world records with RX600 S5 in the SAP BI -D datamart benchmark, it has been certified only yesterday!
10:40:35 MeKi Why is the max. memory only at 512 GB in the RX600 S5 when there are 64 DIMM slots?
10:42:36 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Tom Gundtofte-Bruun: Intel VMDq and SR-IOV (PCI-SIG SingleRoot I/O Virtualization) are important features being integrated in the latest Ethernet controllers (Intel 82576 as one 1GbE and 82599 as 10 GbE controller). PRIMERGY BX960 S1 and RX600 S5 both enable for use of the 10 GbE chips, thus they will support VMDq and SR-IOV. SR-IOV also must be supported by the hypervisor vendors (Microsoft, VMware, RedHat, SuSe, Citrix), who plan exactly the integration.
10:43:16 Checker Congratulation,
10:44:09 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ MeKi: The RX600 S5 will be launched in the first step with 8GB DIMMs (64x 8GB=512GB). But 16GB DIMM´s will be released in secound step so that we can adress 1TB.
10:44:41 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) @Frits: PRIMERGY RX900 is to become our Topline PRIMERGY server with 8 x Nehalem EX. This is supporting a single system image deployment, as all PY servers are doing. PQ servers are providing a multi system image approach, i.e. hard partitioning of the server units. Thus they are a different server class "outside" of the PY family. PQ will not be generally introduced in EMEA, by FTS, and it is subject to special projects only.
10:45:22 Tom Gundtofte-Bruun Great Bernd. Are embedded hypervisors planned?
10:45:45 Wizz RX600 S5: What formats support the PCI slots?
10:47:41 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Tom Gundtofte-Bruun: Yes, Tom, as with all our existing PRIMERGY servers, we will offer the bundled solution VMware ESXi + USB Flash Module for PRIMERGY BX960 S1 an dPRIMERGY RX600 S5
10:48:12 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Wizz: RX600 S5 supports 5x 3/4 length and 4x 1/2 length PCIe slot. (all full high)
10:49:06 Checker Are the NIC´s enabled for ISCSI?
10:49:18 Wizz Thanks, Rudolf - and all are PCIe?
10:50:47 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Checker: Yes, my friend, iSCSI will be supported, also for system booting.
10:51:33 Tom Gundtofte-Bruun Congratulations, Super products & super launch! Thank you!
10:51:39 MeKi Can I drop the new chips into an existing older generation PRIMERGY system?
10:52:03 MeKi
10:52:28 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ Wizz: Yes, all PCIe (2x Gen1 x4, 3x Gen2 x4, 4x Gen2 x8, 1x Gen2 x16 )
10:53:06 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) @Meki:It is NEW CPUs AND new Chipset!! This means: SOrry -no, new generation all in all!
10:54:11 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) To ALL. The chat will still be open until 11 o´clock!
10:55:13 MeKi What about FCoE? Will that be available?
10:56:04 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Meki: Support for FCoE in Blades is planned for Q3 this year.
10:56:55 Rudolf Knies (Fujitsu) @ MeKi: We will release a CNA (Converged Network Adapter) supporting FCoE by End of May
10:57:01 Checker What sort of organization is in the market for quad-socket systems? How are these typically being deployed? Is it mainly in ERP and CRM scenarios?
10:58:04 Bernd-Dieter Heise (Fujitsu) @Checker: The 4-socket servers are ideal for scale-up environments, where CPU, memory and I/O resources are all critical. The new systems are perfectly suited for those massive applications like large database management systems, but also are perfect as a host platform for large virtual machines.
11:01:07 Herman Lankreijer, Oce Printing Systems GmbH The just saw in the datasheet that the 10 Gbit Network cards only support the SFP+ with max. 10 meter cable length, will the 10 Gbit with RJ45 connector supported? when?
11:03:35 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Hermann: 10GbE PCIe Adapter with RJ45 is planned for next year
11:03:59 Werner Steinschmidt (Fujitsu) Thanks to all for the detailed questins and your vital interest. More info on the new PRIMERGY servers are available at http://ts.fujitsu.com/products/standard_servers/rack/index.html
11:04:41 Herman Lankreijer, Oce Printing Systems GmbH We need this however now (onTX300S6), what can be done here?
11:05:45 Andreas vanAcken (Fujitsu) @Herman: Pls contact your Fujitsu partner for a special release.
11:06:22 Herman Lankreijer, Oce Printing Systems GmbH OK, thanks for the introduction and the answers, have a nice day
